6 Epic Days in the Colorado Wilderness. This trip includes all food, gear, guides, kayaks, everything except your clothing and personal items. This epic trip consists of backpacking and exploring in the Colorado wilderness and will be nothing short of amazing. This is a co-ed trip, all are welcome, 16 years old and up. Come discover the beauty of this hidden wild valley, nestled between high peaks. Join us on this Colorado Adventure!

Day 0 - 6/28/23
Plan your flight to Colorado to arrive in Denver by the afternoon of 6/28/23. On this day in the evening you will meet up with your Avanim Adventures guides and the rest of your group. We will be handing out gear and prepping packs for an early morning departure. (This trip does not include hotel accommodations but we can give you some recommendations). Get a good night’s sleep because it’s the last bed you’ll see for almost a week. Tomorrow we’re going in to the wild.
Day 1 - 6/29/23
Early in the morning we pile in to the van and drive to the trailhead. On the way we will see the vast expanse and beauty of Colorado including the historic maximum security prison where Ari’s uncle spent some quality time. Upon arriving at the trailhead we will head in to the wilderness. We camp by the lakes and get ready for our hike tomorrow in to the land of the high mountain peaks and over the pass.

Day 2 - 6/30/23
We hike up and over the mountain pass, waving to 13,000 foot peaks as we pass by at over 12,000 feet above sea level. Set up shabbos camp and maybe take a dip in the pond before we enjoy a beautiful, song-filled, kabbolos shabbos led by your guides who also happen to be chazzanim.
Day 3 - 7/1/23
Shabbos. We are totally off the grid. It’s time to let yourself just be with Hashem’s wilderness. The beauty, the serenity, the grandeur, the awe. It’s all here for you + the cameraderie of being out here with like-minded folks. It’s a beautiful shabbos.

Day 4 - 7/2/23
This is our day to explore our surroundings. Maybe a day hike around the valley. Maybe a photography trek. Maybe trying your hand at some Andy Goldsworthy style art. It’s your day, enjoy it.
Day 5 - 7/3/23
Time to pack up camp, say goodbye to the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and head back to the van. We’ll drive to a camp site right near the Arkansas River and get ready for some exciting fun tomorrow on the Ark!
Day 6 - 7/4/23
The River is calling and we must go! Maybe you’ve been whitewater rafting before and sure that’s fun, but have you every been on whitewater in an inflatable kayak (also called a ducky)? This brings the fun and challenge to a whole new level. Your next phone call to your family and friends will likely include the words: “eddy, surf, and amazing!”
